Flossmoor, Illinois Speed Traps
Western Avenue between Flossmoor Rd and Vollmer Rd
Just past the entrance to Flossmoor Country Club a police car routinely sits in a driveway. I believe the house is owned by a village cop, which is why they can get away with using its private driveway as a speed trap.
Going southbound there’s a hill, so it’s hard to see him and there’s lots of trees. The speed limit is quite low (35 MPH), but it’s an open stretch and there’s a temptation to speed at about 40-45 MPH or more. Don’t do it.

The officer sits just east of Pulaski/Crawford road behind the Family Video store.
If you are going east or west on Floosmoor road and try to speed up to go through the light he will catch you.
Vollmer Rd & Governors Dr
This isn’t just a speed trap. The police park in the driveway of the Tamarac Condominium complex on Vollmer, and southbound cars on Governor’s Highway that turn right on a red get a ticket. Visibility for making a right turn on a red is excellent, so this is a real rip off.
Kedzie Avenue near Flossmoor Road
Officer sits in the employee parking lot of the Ice Arena just north of the High School and across from the Golf Course. Traffic is usually moving at a steady clip but they will pursue north or southbound offenders exceeding 45mph. Watch out…you can easily find yourself doing 50+ mph.
