Kankakee, Illinois Speed Traps

When you are traveling east on State Rt. 17 between Kankakee and Momence the police will even hide in the ditch between the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Along Hwy 113 Hunting Areas 1 and 2 on the straight away, there are marked squad cars parked there once in a great while, but when they are there, they are there for a few days and then not for a couple months. Also Warner Bridge Road, I have recently (4-18-04) seen a squad car hiding in a hunting area WITH his radar on completly hidin from view of the intersection. You can only notice him if you are going East on 113 towards River Side Hospital in Kankakee. Make sure to come to a COMPLETE stop, as there has been many fatalities and they WILL get you if you blow the stop signs.

This section of I-57 has lots of underpasses and other perfect hiding places for state troopers from the nearby Illinois State Patrol HQ. Semi trucks seem the favorite target of this speed trap that is so old it could be called historic. Speed limit is not unreasonable – it’s just that they mean it here.
