Palos Heights, Illinois Speed Traps
Especially late at night – Sheriff’s deputys sit in a driveway on the east side of Harlem, and sometimes there’s a stealth squad pointing south sitting in a left turn lane in the same area.
I got pulled over by a tag team, and the cop said ‘your radar detector didn’t go off did it?’ I said ‘No, do you have some new technology?" To which he answered, ‘Our budget is so low, they won’t buy new ones, so we’re using our real old ones & the new detectors don’t pick them up.
They sit behind the Westgate fence in the Fire Dept. Parking lot and write tickets all day as people come from the Forest Preserve and down that hill.
Big speed trap. even if there is one kid outside going into the school you get nailed for going the speed limit which is 30. you must be going 20 for the school zone.
The Heights unmarked and marked units park in either the Shell gas station or at the Citgo in with the gas pumps. They not only radar, but will sit and stare at all vehicles passing by or stopped at the redlight for seatbelt checks. Tickets are issued constantly. If you don’t believe, try making it through the Berlin Wall yourself!
Harlem Ave. between 127th St. & 135th St. is a bad place to speed, especially after midnight, more so on weekends.
