Budler Road near Lakewood Falls Drive

Plainfield, IllinoisJul 14, 20070 Comments

Basically, the entire Road between Weber Road and Taylor (the road is east/west then curves to north/south). When heading west/south, the speed limit drops from 45mph to 30mph just past the curve all the way to Taylor Rd. Then, there are two elementary schools on opposite sides of the street aproximately 1 block apart (20mph school zone). Police can be anywhere but are usually in one of the schools’ parking lots or the park entrance. Near the curve, they’ll sit in driveway entrances to catch those not slowing down, or if heading east/north, picking up the speed too early. There are a lot of kids in the area so you also have to watch for them as well.

Downtown Plainfield has cops that sit inbetween the little shops and buildings looking for speeders. The limit is 25mph and increases to 35mph the closer you get to Van Dyke Road. I got a ticket on Rt 30 one day and the next two days I saw the same cop radaring in a different spot between the buildings. The cop vehical was a blazer type. I have a radar detector and it did not go off until I was on top of the cop.

Lockport Street near Downtown

A Plainfield cop on a motorcycle uses the downtown area of Plainfield as his playground. I got a seatbelt ticket from him last year, and just got another one this year. I see him there all the time writing tickets, non stop! He rides a black Harley and seems to come out of nowhere. Guess I’ll start wearing my seatbelt in Plainfield.
