US Highway 56 near Galena Boulevard
Sugar Grove Police will post an officer with a radar gun on the bike path bridge just east of Galena Blvd. This officer will capture your speed and radio it to one of possibly several car units. This is routinly done on holidays during the day. You usually can see the officer on the bridge if your looking for him, but by the time you see him, it’s already to late if your speeding.
Bliss Road near By the Forest Preserve
Sugar Grove police also sit on Bliss Road, near the Forest Preserve with lights out, sometimes with lights on, to catch speeders – the posted limit is 40 mph. The Sugar Grove police do not seem to have any tolerance.
State Route 47 near Galena Avenue
The Sugar Grove Police sit in the middle of Rt 47 w/ lights off mainly after dark & try to catch drivers in the 45-55mph transition zone north of town, just pass Bliss Road
Bliss Road near Denny Road
Between Denny and Merrill, on Bliss Road the road widens. The cops will sit on side streets in the new subdivisions and pull people over here because the speed limit decreases, even though no one ever does.
State Highway 56 near Galena Boulevard
Smokies hide in the center median under the Galena Blvd overpass. Speed limit is 55 on restricted access divided highway. Average speed is 70, actual minimum speed is 65. I was stopped doing 70.
