Urbana, Illinois Speed Traps

This is a "Y" intersection, where Philo Road and Cottage Grove merge just north of Washington St. The only traffic ticket I’ve ever gotten (I’m 68) was here…the officer was situated in the parking lot of a private apt. complex that’s hidden by trees. He claimed I was going 45 in a 30 zone…and this was immediately after I’d just been at a 4-way stop. (I’d have left tire tracks to be going that fast in such a short time.) The posted limit before the intersection is 35 mph (going north) but once you cross Washington it drops to 30…. something to be aware of!

County Car sits on north side of Airport Road next to a bush by the fence of the airport. There most evenings after 6 PM.

Corner of Myra Ridge Dr and 130 (Philo rd) Sits back on side street (Myra Ridge) and other side of road at radio tower.

University Police patrol this road which is actually outside of the university. Posted limit is 35, most cars do 45-50. I got pulled over one late night (2am) for going 42.

Police will sit on the west side amongst the buildings to catch southbound traffic. Also, I sometimes see them further north in the park but on the east side.
