State Route 59 near State Route 56

Police drive on Butterfield looking for trouble, and will pull you over for tinted windows. I got pulled over a few months ago and the officer told me I was being pulled over not because I was speeding or endangering pedestrians or anything substantial, but because, get this-are you ready….because my windows were tinted and he could not tell what race I was! I could not believe it! I thought we were well passed that in our day and age. Anyways, if you have tinted windows and don’t feel like taking it off just to drive in Warrenville, either avoid the town or roll your windows down when you see them! Good luck.

Lakeview Drive near State Route Route 59 & Route 56

There is a small street called Lakeview Dr off of Continental Dr from Route 59 north of Route 56. This street cuts the corner for S/B Route 59 traffic looking to go westbound on Route 56. During morning and afternoon rush hours, motorists don’t want to wait for the traffic light at route 56. They cut down lakeview to get to W/B Route 56. On the reverse, E/B Route 56 traffic looking to northbound on Route 59 does not want to wait for the turn arrow and they use Lakeview to get to N/B Route 59. There have been numerous complaints and town meetings from the Lakeview residents about speeding vehicles on Lakeview, a winding street with a 25 MPH zone. Bottom line, the Police are going to great means to detect speeding vehicles and issue citations. It may be tempting but avoid if you can.

For the Warrenville PD, Route 59 must be like the proverbial "fish in a barrel" shooting gallery. Which is all well and fine if they’re catching speeders. It’s the WAY they do it that is a problem. Warrenville is a little frontier town that hasn’t figured out how to deal with corporate America building skyscrapers along its portion of the I-88 corridor. Officers condicting traffic stops have little regard for the throngs of traffic trying to move along crowded Route 59, and will fully block a whole lane with their squad cars while executing a 10-15 minute stop. This naturally snarls traffic big time. I understand the necessity for officer safety, but there are plenty of sidestreets and drives officers could direct their catch onto and leave Route 59 alone. Just be aware, if you’re sitting in traffic on 59 in Warrenville, chances are it’s because there’s a cop blocking the lane ahead.
