Greenfield Central High School parking and surrounding areas mostly during school hours. Hey folks, it’s a school zone… slow down or find a different route.

North side of Greenfield – City police park in the dark and clock traffic. Speed limit drops from 55 to 50 before the city limits coming southbound.

State Route 9 and County Road 300 N.

I have on several occassions witnessed Hancock County deputies, Greenfield City patrol vehicles and even the occassional State Trooper sitting here at the old Moore’s Repair Service (AC Delco) parking lot. It’s just north of the interstate-70 overpass maybe a quarter mile past the Gas America. They tend to sit with their lights off and often there is more than one car at a time, especially late at night. People who enter the city from the north should be more cautious as the speed limit drops from 55 to 50 just as you pass the parking lot heading southbound.

Washington St. (US 40) Just West of Ford dealership

Cop sits in a small parking lot right before the Ford dealership going eastbound. They sit there late at night w/lights off and continually nail people (approx 1 every 20 min). It is 55 there, but real easy to go way faster than that. I got nailed there for 70/55 by radar. Late at night there’s all kind of Greenfield cops along that stretch, so don’t speed at night in Greenfield.

On Blue Rd between New Rd and McKenzie St ( J B Stephens Elementary School)

This is a NEW SPEED TRAP just went into effect on 08-20-02, the (NORMAL) posted speed limit is either 40 or 45mph depending on your direction of travel on Blue RD, until you reach the school zone and then it drops immediately to "20 MPH" (STRICTLY ENFORCED BY 2-4 OFFICERS AT ANY TIME). this school zone is in effect from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM MONDAY thru FRIDAY! This is absurd! I am not aware of another SCHOOL ZONE in this COUNTY,that is in effect all day long, in stark contrast to, just when children are in transit to/from the school. It is my opinion, that The City of Greenfield, has found a way to ENHANCE ITS REVENUE during these lean economic times,in the name of: SAFETY FOR OUR CHILDREN!!! I hold no "ILL WILL" toward this Police Dept, they are only enforcing the law, however "ABSURD" it may be! No I have NEVER been ticketed by this Police Dept, so there is no vandetta in play here at all…just disgusted!
