Portage, Indiana Speed Traps

Officers usually fill their squad cars at the bus barns "gas station" and then either sit in the school’s parking lot or the road leading from behind the bus barn/school to Lute Rd. They are there throughout the day and seem more prominent when students are arriving and leaving school.

Squads sit in the hospital parking lot and also south of the hospital right on Willowcreek in the turn lane half way between Route 6 and 700 North. I have seen them pull over over 100 cars, dozens just in the evenings.

I saw a motorcycle officer standing in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen with a radar gun. You would not have noticed him without a squad car. Looked like he could have been eating Ice Cream!

Coming into town either direction on US 12, Police hide near the Park entrance and are hidden by trees and shrubs. Speed goes from 55 mph to 45 mph for hust about 75 yards by the railroad station, then goe back to 55.
