Grimes, Iowa Speed Traps

They sit on the east side of the car wash watching the four way stop to catch people who roll through the stop sign.

They sit to the South of the new stoplights by the new Wal Mart on NW 70th. It’s particularly bad when the crops start to grow because you can’t see them sitting there if you are coming from the East/Johnston.

Police cars often are sitting by the elementary and sports complex – late night and through out the day. With it only being 25 mph I’ve heard more people have been ‘caught’ heading south (exiting city limits) than entering, since they aren’t as careful heading out of town..

Usually during morning rush & afternoon rush, officers sit on the black top running north of Grimes (N. James Street) – anywhere between Grimes and Highway 141 intersection.

Sheriff department patrol cars sit on 141 near the Grimes exit, often just over rise to the south of the exit.
