Windsor Heights, Iowa Speed Traps
Underneath the I-235 overpass, near the exit ramps.
Windsor heights is now in possession of a mobile-traffic-cam; in the form of a black Chevy Aveo, with white doors. It frequently is placed the catch motorist exiting the interstate, and crossing over from West Des Moines. Also there are NO orange safety pylons placed near the parked vehicle, and the only distinguishing police markings are on the rear of the vehicle.
Side streets off of 70th Street
Police like to hide on the side streets off of 70th Street (one of the back ways to Wal-Mart). It is 25 mph through here and there are several hills so it’s hard to control your speed. They profit from that.
UNIVERSITY Avenue near 63rd Street
The entire city of Windsor Heights is considered a "zero tolerance" city for possible traffic infractions. A man died in custody of this small town in the past few years. Numerous articles have been published concerning questionable actions by the Windsor Heights Police. Motorists should especially cautious concerning fourth amendment violations by the Windsor Heights Police during traffic stops and encounters with police.
Entire City
It’s known as "Radar Heights" for a reason. The city government feels that any passing motorist is ripe for financial exploitation (read: piracy); therefore citations are given for 2+ MPH over the limit. The entire city is ridiculously zoned as 25 MPH and the local PD exploits this for all it’s worth. Income from traffic tickets exceeds tax revenues here.
