Fort Kent, Maine Speed Traps
Caribou road, next to the Jehova Witness Hall
Town police like to hide here and catch you coming NE down the hill heading toward Fort Kent…speed limit is 55MPH
Fort Kent Mills
Better watch your stop signs….rolling stops are not accepted
Route 11 traveling north into town
After climbing Pinette Hill, the road descends and then there’s a long straight stretch just as enter the town limits. This stretch drops to 45 miles and hour and then 25 miles an hour as you enter town. These conditions: a straight stretch after climbing a hill and a decreased speed limit are perfect for a trap and the local authorities know it. It’s not uncommon to see a patrol car at the end of the straight stretch or as you descend into the town limits.
St John Rd, just outside of town
The town cops park and hide. The speed limit is 25 mph which is WAYYYYYY too low for that area.
