South Portland, Maine Speed Traps
So. Portland PD sits in narrow bike lane, hidden around large bend at Southbound side of bridge. Dangerous practice even late at night. Speed limit is 40 but 55 is routine.
As you go over the bridge on west broadway, you will proceed thru a traffic light, there is a business on the right with a lot of bushes and trees…police park right there usually around 7-9 pm and will stop you for speeding
Up to ten state police cars station in breakdown lane and pull over all vehicles that drive through far right toll lane at entrance to route 295, just off route 95 heading towards Portland, ME (North).
As you come from US Rt. 1, South Portland, heading south as Rt. 295 crosses over the spur, between that and the toll booths, the speed changes from 50mph to 30. Police hide behind the the Rt.295 abutment, they can grab and Do, cars coming down the spur and Rt.295 towards the Maine Mall
South Portland Police sit in the American Leigon’s parking lot close to the trees, can not see them till it’s too late. Then appox. 1000ft later
they sit in Pratt Abbotts parking lot, closer to the building, can’t see them, until your past them….oops
