There are usually one or two officers sitting back in a Sunoco station, not far past Homestead Gardens, or off of Rt. 214, just ahead of Riva Road. I see them off and on, mostly around 9:00 pm.

State Police will set up on the right shoulder of Rt 424 South, just south of the Rt. 424 and Rt 50/301 interchange. They are there with the trunk lid up, picking off people either heading south on Rt. 424 or exiting onto Rt. 424 South from Route 50 and Exit 16.

Late at night, the State Police will also sit at the south end of the mediun with lights off.

Local and State police will sit in the Park and Ride at the same location, picking off drivers heading north on Rt 424.

The speed limit is 45 mph and they ticket at 56 mph.

Both State and County police frequent this location especially near the end of the month, but could be there at any time. Watch your speed coming of the ramps from Rt 50. It’s too easy to just to exceed the posted 45MPH limit especially after high speed driving on Rt 50. State police use laser county uses radar. State police usually hang out at the south end of the median and County police usually hang out just past the deer crossing sign on the right side.

I call this area the gold fish bowl. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for the police and the revenue generated is like gold to the state and county.

In addition the road (Rt. 424) has just been freshly paved so if you are used to the road noise of your car to help you judge your speed be careful the new pavement is very quiet.
