Old Marlboro Pike Street near Marlborough Drive

Upper Marlboro, MarylandNov 26, 20070 Comments

The road the police watch is Old Marlboro Pike. Often there will be a police officer sitting on the side of the road looking for cars driving too fast around the turn. I’ve seen numerous people stopped by the police as well.

State Highway Old Crane near State Route 4

Upper Marlboro, MarylandMay 22, 20070 Comments

The trap is located after the on/off ramp for MD route 4 right after the 25MPH sign entering the town of Upper Marlboro. The local police will be waiting either on the right in a hidden drive way after the first bend or to the left in the parking lot of a municipal building. Be careful you’re not going see them until its too late because of the trees. You can usually tell by the speed of the on coming traffic if they are out there.

As you come from Old Crain Highway or the Route 4 Pennsylvania Ave Ramps once you cross the Route 4 Bridge the speed limit drops to 25, they have been there all hours of the day and night, and will ticket for even the most minor of infractions they sit on the right shoulder in a driveway and are very hard to see. If you are coming from Old Crain Highway the speed limit drops from 50 to 25.

Route 4 between Old Crain Highway and Woodyard Road

Upper Marlboro, MarylandNov 02, 20030 Comments

Maryland State Police ESPECIALLY in the begining and end of the month will set up Radar and Laser Radar traps along Route 4 between Old Crain Highway and Woodyard Road sometimes as far back as Dower House Road, Route 4 in this section has plenty of bends in the road is heavily wooded in sections, and has several over passes where Maryland State Police set radar up on both sides of the highway sometimes both sides at the same time, often they have multiple troopers in the same location, I have seen as many as 6 in one spot. Enforcement is especially heavy around holidays or long weekends, they also set up sobriety check points in this stretch around holidays

Old Crain Highway, Main Street, etc.

Be vary careful when travelling anywhere within one a mile radius of the county courthouses. I have seen as many as four or five speed-trapping officers within a span of 100 yards. All types of police are there(state troopers, county police and local sherrifs.)This is no joke. Why are they so strict in this area? I suspect it is out of pure laziness. All of the police stations are located in Upper Marlboro and there are many wooded entrances and hidden driveways making it a convenient and easy place to trap motorists.
