Bridgewater, Massachusetts Speed Traps
On route 104 by the old steel mill and the farm store, just over the bridge heading west
Local Bridgewater police usually parked over the bridge in the old truck junk yard. Radar is usually always on, so it is easy to pick up with any radar detector.
Route 18S coming from E. Bridgewater
Local Police will be sitting in a van, or patrol car (both are marked), usually in the parking lot of a Chinese Restaurant (left side of road). Sometimes they will be waiting in the auto parts store’s parking lot, which borders the Chinese restaurant’s lot. The other known spot is the Riviera club’s parking lot, on the right side. If they choose the left side of the road, they are visible as you are coming down the hill, from the flashing yellow lights towards Bridgewater center. If they are in the Riviera parking lot, you won’t see them until it is too late. I usually see them holding the radar gun.
NOTE: The speed limit is 45, then 40 as you crest the hill, before the flashing lights, but after you crest the hill it becomes 35. It’s easy to keep going fast, but a very good idea to slow down. I haven’t been nabbed (because I know about this trap), but I’ve seen others, being pulled over. The speed traps can be on any day, but mostly I see them on weekends between morning and 10:00 p.m. I can say that anytime I have been pulled over by the Bridgewater Police (3 x’s), they have always been courteous and fair. Each time, I was given a break. (I really appreciated that!)
rt 28 (state hwy)
the speed limit is 45 and as one up the hill and then down you see speed limit sign for 35 before you slow down a cop is behind you flashing lights.
Route 14, At entrance to RIDDER’S COUNTRY CLUB
Officer sits somewhere in the golf course parking lot. Posted speed limit of this road is 35 m.p.h. Police officer has been known to hide in parking lot among the cars and radio information on vehicles to be stopped to other police officers waiting just down the road.
