Dedham, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Rte 109 East (coming off the bridge over Rte 128)
Normal speed off the bridge is 40+, but speed zone drops to 30 at the bottom of the hill, because it’s thick residential. Enforcement is sporadic, but very strict. Over 30mph gets you a $50 ticket (maybe it’s $100 now?).
Elm Street. near Vinnie Testa’s restaurant
Speed limit goes to 25mph just after the restaurant AND there is lots of microwave energy here, so most drivers pay little attention to detectors.
Washington St (Rt 1A-N)
Two motorcycle units hide their bikes off-street in driveways, shadows of trees on sidewalks and the they hide behind telephone poles and use the Laser gun. Mostly frequentl in nice weather, although sometimes they switch to patrol car in inclement weather/winter. These two officers would issue tickets to their mother.
State Rte. 128/Rte. 95/93 Between Exits 20 & 7
Enforcement is usually "rolling". There are generally two or three State patrol cars rolling in this area between 9 and 1 a.m. Sometimes they are in the rest area watching the traffic. They come up on you so fast and close that it can be frightening. The limit is posted at 55 m.p.h. You can usually travel at 60 to 65 without a problem. Try staying out of the left lane. One patrol car travels south on Rte 128 between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, every night, at a high rate of speed. You can practically set your clock by him.
