Egremont, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Just after coming off of Boyce Road onto Route 71 South.
They are VERY aggressive in Egremont on speeding. They are always out even at 5:30AM.
Upon passing through the 25/20 MPH speed traps in Egremont towards New York, The speed limit changes several times from 45 to 35 to 45 MPH, if you’re still driving at 45 MPH because you missed the last 35 MPH sign going up the hill towards Catamount, there’s a cop in a driveway banking on you missing it. Don’t bother hitting the brakes–Once you see him, it’s too late. He’ll say you were even going faster than you were and he doesn’t have to appear in court if you dispute his estimate.
Enforcement is constant everywhere in Egremont. The speed limit is 20 mph through town and rigidly enforced. Also Route 71 where the speed limit drops after leaving Great Barrington, and all of Boyce Road especially at the bottom of the hill as you’re going toward N. Egremont.
Located at the head of a straightaway on Rt.41, by an old barn. Drivers heading north are fair game.
The police cruiser is always at the station with radar.
