Lynn, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Maple St.
Cops are hiding behind or between cars in the parking lot of the St. Pius Church, and trying to clock people going faster than 20. It is a school zone, however, an informal traffic study reveals that even the cops themselves do not obey the speed limit on this busy main street.
Western Ave. @ South St. and Federal St. Intersection
If you’re coming through Market Sq. from the commons heading in the direction of West Lynn, they will be parked on Western Ave., waiting for you to go straight instead or right onto Federal St. from the right turn only lane. When the light is green people always punch it to make the light and also get bagged for speeding.
I see them here at least three days a week.
Porthole Pub
They park right in the parking lot of the Porthole Pub and get the speeders and people going through the red light there on the Lynnway near Nahant.
Route 1A, Revere, WB, end of GE Bridge
There’s an exit and a large road sign capable of hiding a cruiser just as you come over the bridge into Revere. A favorite trap among cops…. I know, I was one, State, in Revere, and worked that trap all the time. The limit on the bridge is 30 mph….. average speed is about 60. Cops consider it a turkey shoot.
Eastern Ave at Clark St
Radar van parks in front of school. 20 mph limit. Ridiculous. Only way to avoid a ticket is hopefully they are busy with 4 other vehicles OR drive 20 mph. Maybe that should be the new national limit !
