Somerset, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Police sit behind trees on left as you approach the park and water tank.
As you are traveling north, they sit on the left hand side of the road just behind the strip mall. The posted speed limit is 25mph. However, the Mass Highway Dept. has no records of a speed study being done for that section of Somerset Ave. This section of road is just before merging onto Rt.138.
From Brayton Pt. Rd. to Lees River Ave. it is straight downhill easy to pick up speed whereas speed limit drops 15 mph.Officers sit on right
There is a sign when you come off the Brightman street bridge from the Fall River side that says "no left turn between XXAM and XXPM. DO NOT turn here; they have had cars lined up 7 deep for tickets! Especially enforced when the Braga bridge has work being done.BR1AN
Motorists travelling east on Whetstone Hill Road reach the top of a very steep hill and begin to come down the other side. At the very bottom of the hill off to the right the police wait for you to come into view. The speed is 30mph BUT, it is not posted anywhere on this road in either direction. Unless you brake heavily coming down the hill you cannot avoid increasing speed even with your foot OFF the pedal. It is relatively easy to beat this ticket as the local PD uses a liason officer and the court is usually to jammed to wait for long hearings.
