I want to report a speed trap I saw on Thursday 27
April, in Auburn Hills, MI on I-75 at Exit 77B between
10am – 2pm.

A Michigan State Trooper in an plain black patrol car
parks on the overpass of Exit 77B on-ramp to
Southbound I-75. The car is parked so that Southbound
I-75 traffic cannot see him. This officer aims a laser
gun at Southbound I-75 traffic moving away from him,
and he then radios vehicle speeds to motorcycle
Troopers parked near the end of the onramp who pursue and stop the vehicles.

This trap is unusual for the State of Michigan because: a) the State Trooper is completely invisible to the Southbound traffic approaching him, and b) the laser gun is aimed from behind at traffic moving away from it.

Interstate I-75 Southbound near Southbound on ramp from DaimlerChrysler Tech center

Auburn Hills, MichiganNov 22, 20050 Comments

Michigan State Troopers park on the Southbound on-ramp (from the DaimlerChrysler HQ) onto I-75. They are parked high on the on-ramp (the part that is a bridge over the interstate) so you cannot see them as you are driving South on I-75. The typically radar or laser a vehicle from behind after it has passed them from the high vantage point on the overhead bridge. They are typically here after the 20th of the month and before holiday weekends.
Flow of traffic is usually 80-95mph here so make sure you slow down as you pass this area.

Cop hiding in small parking spot at the bottom of the hill on the right hand side, heading westbound on Great Lakes Crossing. Speed is set at 30MPH and it’s almost impossible to view the sign upon right turn entrance of the road.
