All Along Augusta Drive Within Village Limits
They have 7 (Seven) part-time police officers for this village with less then 4,000 residents. You will see all locals and residents applying breaks prior to entering the 35 Mph. Village speed limit. You know it is a trap when all slow down. Local Village received 33% on all tickets. This burg is well known in the area as a Speed Trap.
Michigan 96 (E. Augusta Dr. /E. Michigan Ave.)
Not a speed trap but just as bad. The law in Augusta has it’s own idea of a complete stop. You are to remain completely stopped for a count of 5 seconds, thousand one, thousand 2, etc., this will be told to you as you are given a $105.00 ticket and 3 points for not stopping at a stop sign. Beware of entire town.
42nd Street near State Highway M-96
As you head south, towards Augusta, the street goes from 55 mph to 25 mph without any warning signage. Patrol car sits facing the oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road in a gravelled turnout area (not a driveway), immediately beyond the sign. The 25 mph sign is damaged, leaning, & the left side of it is bent inwards. It is about a 1/2 mile south of Brook Lodge.

After the 90 degree turn onto the "highway" heading towards Battle Creek the speed limit stays 35mph for a couple of hundred yards. Hard not to speed up with that long stretch as far as the eye can see in front of you. Big bust factor…Watch out…
