Eastpointe, Michigan Speed Traps

just east of this overpass, do Not go over the 25 speed limit- you’ll get slammed just like i did. Dang!

Eastpointe police have various "hiding pockets" they use between 8 Mile and 9 1/2 and 10 Mile Rds. They usually gather together in the grocery store parking lot at 8 Mile and watch. One is usually sitting right on Gratiot after 9 Mile and before 10. This is usually ANY time of the day. I try to avoid Eastpointe if possible.

Around 5 am till first light they sit in the truevalue hardware parking lot in the shadows.thats why till first light. after that they cant hide anymore. The speed limit is 35 but early in the morning most the traffic lights are blinking yellow its easy to go faster.

Radar Unit is parked on the N side of 8-Mile between Kelly & Gratiot facing East toward Kelly. I drive this route 6 days a week (Mon – Sat) and this trap is manned 80% of the time. Speed limit is 40; don’t go any faster than 45. Kind of a capricious trap because traffic often zips by at 60 in the afternoon…

Nine Mile Rd between Gratiot Ave and Kelly Rd is one huge speed trap. Both the Police and Fire Depts. are located on the stretch. It is a fast food alley. It is a route that younger drivers must utilize to get to and from high school. It is also a close route to an Interstate exit and entrance. Posted limit is 35mph. The trap is approx. 2 miles long.
