Ferndale, Michigan Speed Traps
Police waiting for you to come over the bridge into Ferndale where speed limit changes to 35 mph. They probably get 20 per day.
Officer sits in parking lot just before bridge to Detroit.
It’s easy to speed here without realizing it. Most of southbound Woodward up until Ferndale is 45. The limit is 35 in Ferndale, the road then becomes less congested at Machpela Cemetery. This stretch is ripe for a speed study.
The Ferndale Police sit in dark blue cars just past the Woodward overpass.Once you come out from underneath the viaduct they are sitting there with the laser pointed right at the oncoming cars. They are writing 3 to 4 tickets per hour there and stay there all day and night. They are also on Southbound Woodward just north of 8 mile Rd and get you for going over the 35 MPH speed limit. The city still hasn’t done a speed test on Woodward. The P.A.#85 needs to be done on Woodward because only Ferndale has a 35 MPH speed limit. Contest your ticket!
Going westbound on 9 mile road, received a $150 ticket for not seeing the "no right turn on a red light" sign.
A warning would have worked just as well, but would not have produced revenue for the city.
In my view, the amount is ridiculous.
I was sharing with my friends how Ferndale was a great area for restaurants and entertainment. Now I share that it is a good place to avoid.
The town is so hard up for money, they will ticket you for going 3 mph or more over the limit anywhere in the city.
