They usually sit on the shoulder between the light and SavMor. They are watching the intersection but also clocking southbound cars on West Jefferson.

During the school year, a police officer hides in the trees just past the bridge over the canal on W. Jefferson outside of Carlson High School and Shumate Middle School. It becomes a school zone at that point and the speed changes to 25. Hours are 6:30 to 8 am and 1:30 to 3 p. The cop will not hesitate to pull you over for going 5 or more over. Students and parents of Carlson High School Beware!

Officer sits on side of road East of the railroad tracks, in the dark, with no lights on. Usually facing West to catch Eastbound drivers. Speed limit is 45 there. Unless your headlights pick up a reflection on the police car you’ll never see it.
