Hamtramck, Michigan Speed Traps
The officer used laser from inside his vehicle with the heavily tinted windows up and aimed at vehicles on the service drive and at the same time those exiting the freeway ramp. He claimed I was going 38 mph in a 25 mph zone when that was impossible while I was yielding to three cars coming off the ramp and attempting to make a left turn at the nearby traffic light. I am outraged at this type of injustice. I am 64 years old and never had a speeding ticket.
Everyday during rush hour in the morning & during lunch time, Hamtramck police are parked with their radar guns out just south of Davison Freeway on Northbound I-75.
A HAMTRAMCK POLICE OFFICER PARKS NEAR BY HUNGRY HOWIE’S AND GIVES TICKETS LEFT AND RIGHT FOR SPEEDING ON JOESPH CAMPAU AVE, OTHER TICKETS FROM MAKING A LEFT TURN TO ALLEY BEHIND PNC BANK THAT SIGN WAS JUST ADDED FEW MONTHS AGO ITS NOT THAT OLD AND THAT SIGN WAS PUT ON A LIGHT POLL THAT YOU BARLEY SEE. I LIVE IN HAMTRAMCK SINCE 1990 THE ONLY THING I SEE FROM THIS THAT THE CITY ARE REALLY HUNGRY AND THEY TAKE THERE DEBT ON CITIZEN BY GIVEN TICKETS LIKE ITS END OF THE WORLD. HATE TO SAY THIS BUT ANYONE THINKING OF COMING TO HAMTRAMCK MAKE SURE YOU DONT SPEED MORE THAN 25 MILES A HOUR AND MAKE SURE TO USE MAGNIFYING GLASSES TO SEE THERE SIGNS
On the I-75 North Bound service drive, the official speed limit is a ridiculously low 25 mph. Most motorists drive 40 to 50 along this stretch due to the lack of cross streets or signage. The only speed limit sign is small and partially obscured by other signs. The officer likes to sit at the bottom of the dip, where gravity easily pulls cars over the limit unless they ride the brakes.
When you travel northbound on Hamtramck Drive from West Grand Blvd, you pass under a railroad bridge which is the city limits between Hamtramck and Detroit. They’re usually sitting at the top of the hill as you come under the bridge. Last time I was through there, it was posted 25 MPH. Hamtramck PD let NO ONE off with a warning.
