Sheridan is a 25mph zone and a short cut around the downtown traffic. City police sit at the bottom of the hill near the rail road tracks hidden on either side of the road by storage buildings.

Mitchell Street near Montessori School

As you pass Petoskey High School headed towards town, you will go up a small hill, pass a Montessori School, and get hit by radar. The cop (Any one of our 3 departments) will be waiting on the left side of the hill. This is near a 35 to 25 drop in speed, and during school dropoff/pickup times it is 25. The cop will be on the left shoulder of the road, but they give you a warning with a 25mph ahead, Radar Enforced sign. If you see this, it may be too late.

There will be an officer in the bank parking lot immedately before the Days Inn and Victories Hotel. He will be hitting people on US 131. You can see him from Anderson Road. He sits there because there is a drop in speed from 55 to 45 but most people don’t do that. Also, dont cut through the parking lots if he is around. It can either be the Petoskey PD or Emmet Sherrif Dept.

As you travel towards Division, hills will block your sight of the parking lot of the golf course. As you go down the road, the cop (Emmet Sherrif Dept.) will be waiting on either side of the road. He usally is there in the afternoon in summers but beware, I have seen him there many times else.
