Maplewood, Minnesota Speed Traps
Century Ave between 94 and Valley Creek Road
The cops have been watching this area since road work started and they dropped the speed limit to 35 MPH. I was pulled over and told by the cop that they are watching this area.
Walter Street near County Trunk Cty Rd D
Police sit hidden on the street as a parked car. You can’t see them because the street is on a hill and if you come down the hill or up, you are suddenly on them. Also, do not run the stop sign. They sit hidden around a curve and I have seen them pull 10 or 11 people over in a matter of 10 minutes.
Holloway Street near Century Avenue
After a stop sign near Maplewood middle school on Holloway(if going east), or if turning left from century avenue onto Holloway (if going west), you proceed down a straight, 3/4 mile long wide shouldered, residential, 1 lane in each direction street, which is rarely crowded, but a cop sits right near a park entrance on the shoulder with his lights off, or sits in a minor street that runs into Holloway, and has gotten several cars for doing very little (7 or 8 mph) over the speed limit.
East Larpenteur Avenue near McKnight Avenue
Police often wait along East Larpenteur Ave at the dip in the road near Beebe Ave. which is between Mcknight and White Bear Avenues. The speed limit is 30 mph and there are several large schools in the area, but many drivers are doing 45mph or faster.
East Roselawn Avenue near Rice Street
The cops will park along Roselawn Ave. near the St. Paul waterworks and the K-9 training place and catch you coming up the hill from Rice St. (going east).
