The speed limit changes from 65 to 55 m.p.h. as soon as you hit the city limits. Within 100 yards it changes from 55 to 45 m.p.h. This area is heavily monitored.
On Main Street/State Rt 137 at the intersection of Maple and Main, the speed limit drops from 35 to 25 for the school zone. This area continues well past the high school by about a 1/4 mile. This area is also heavily monitored and not well posted.
Heading west bound on state route 32, the speedlimit is 35 until you hit the city limits sign and it changes to 55–approximately 1 mile. Right before the city limits sign, there are two streets on the left that intersect just off of the highway. The city police have set up a speed trap at that intersection to monitor highway traffic at approximately 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. They will also follow you out of city limits to issue a citation.
city cops watch road for speeders more than they watch the town.
Speed limit drops pretty quick from 65 to 45 no warning. By the time you see and then hit the 45 sign you are still running at 55. I never got a ticket but I alwayt thought there should be some type of warning for unfamiliar traffic. Lot of truckers come this way, Hwy 63 South of Rolla, going into Licking, Mo.
