Las Vegas, Nevada Speed Traps

Speed limit is 35, should be 45 mph like other streets of similar size. This stretch of Alta is 5 lanes with few curb cuts. Motorcycle cops love to hide in entrance to gated community (Queensridge?) a few blocks east of Hualapai or around large curve near Suncoast casino.

Mostly for those heading South bound on N. Rainbow after crossing Tropical Parkway the street narrows to one lane each direction, motorcycle officers sit in an off set on the West side of the street to radar gun all South bound traffic, the area just before Ann Rd. I have seen multiple cars being ticketed by the Walgreen store.

Anyone entering Las Vegas traveling on the 15 Beware. The speed limit is 70 mph, when you approach the 215 you will see the 70 mph sign and within 200 feet you will see a 65mph sign. You had better be below 65mph when you hit the sign or you will be given a welcoming gift of a ticket. This is no joke as there was 11 cops writing tickets all at once. When I went by the same area the next day there were 13 cops all writing tickets at the same time. I can only assume the cops feel they can resolve the credit crisis by giving out 100’s of tickets per day. And in case you are wondering I did not get a ticket. I just feel this is very unprofessional to locals and tourists alike.

There is no posted speed limit east bound. It is posted west bound. I never travel west bound on this street as I’m just dropping my kids off on my way to work. Cop sits on El Camino just waiting. He even said it wasn’t posted east bound.

Speed trap with one LVMP Motorcycle on the Desert Inn and Sahara overpass and then two – three Motorcycle cops on the Charleston off ramp. They radar in the speeds on the overpass and radio it in to the motorcycle cops on the off ramp.
