RT 9W

Alpine, New JerseyMar 09, 20030 Comments

Alpine is a small community. The eastern side of the town includes RT 9W, it runs parallel to the western side of palisades parkway, which has a separate state patrol group, and has two intersecting exits/entrances with the parkway. 9W at that point runs for about 3 miles, almost straight, about 3 lights that favor rt 9w travelers,it is quite open.Police officers seem to spend a great deal of time on RT 9W, using moving radar. The speed limit on 9W is 40, the parkway is 50, but most on the parkway seem to go from 55 to 60. The proximity of the parkway seems to be close enough that a police radar in a car on 9W could pick up a car on the parkway. A number of motorists have reported that the area gets a high number of citations as opposed to the actual number of cars using the road.Word is that they want to keep the traffic on the parkway and use this as a way of keeping RT 9W clear for residents.
