Basking Ridge, New Jersey Speed Traps
Allen Road near Schley Mountain Road
Speed limit is 35mph (residential), bit it’s easy to do 45-50mph. Police usually hides late in the evening at the entrance of some development or behind the trees going up Schley Mountain Rd. I see them stopping people almost every night, and while I walk my dog they manage to "process" many unlucky drivers.
South Maple Avenue near St. James Church – rear driveway.
The Basking Ridge Police park in the rear driveway to the church picking off anyone not doing the 25 mph limit heading south. They are also known to radar the northbound traffic as the limit is reduced from 40 to 30 mph 200 feet away and the 30 mph sign is obscured behind a tree.
Meeker Road – top of the hill
This is the setup when driving on Meeker Road from Rt. 202… this is how I get to Rt. 78. Cop either hiding as you drive up over the hill… he will be on the left hand side. Or he will be way down on the right side as you approach the Avaya office complex on Mt. Airy Rd.
Allen Road entrance to the hills development
Bernards just got a new toy a laser radar, where the officer stands outside the car and pinpoints who he or she wants. It is accurate so be warned the last week of 7-03 and the first week of August ther were multiple vehicles being ticketed. If you are one of these Mexicans driving a landscaping/noisemaker trailer set ups, just stay home,, they really love non English speaking speeders.
Down Stonehouse road about a half mile before the Millington Quarry
I haven’t seen the officer on weekends in the area but I was pulled over for 50 in a 40 at 11:30 about 200 yards before the quarry. The trap is off one of the side roads on the street. The officer was female and very nice, gave me a ticket for my newly discovered burnt out tail light instead of speeding.
