State Highway 71

The entire length of Route 71 in Brielle is 25 miles per hour, and that speed limit is enforced very heavily. They WILL pull you over for doing 28. They are merciless!

Route 71, Across the street from the Police station

You’ll often see the Brielle PD sitting either in their own parking lot at the station or directly across the street, in a grass lot across from the Volvo marine engine store. The limit on 71 is 30MPH which is ridiculous. I’ve heard people getting pulled over for going 35 in a 30.

Route 70, just west of the Manasquan River Bridge

This little trap is still unknown by many… when the NJDOT completed widening Route 70 to 4 lanes in this area, the speed limit in Brielle (which Route 70 passes through for less than one mile) was posted at 45 MPH. The towns surrounding Brielle (Wall Twp. and Brick Twp.) are both 50 mph. I’ve seen both local and state police hide on the WB side in the vicinity of the old Brielle Furniture parking lot or just beyond that. There are no "Reduced Speed Limit" signs. it just suddenly drops from 50 to 45. Be careful!

Rt 35 S/N at Manasquan River Bridge entering or leaving Point Pleasant Beach

On the RT 35 bridge that goes over Manasquan River there is a "driveway" which police can back their car into and remain invisible until you are right on them. They use radar to catch speeders, the bridge starts the reduction from 50 to 40 mph. The light after you cross the bridge when you are driving southbound on Rt 35 (Broadway), right across from the marina, there is a median between the N and S bound lanes..there are usually 1 or 2 Pt. Pleasant Beach Cruisers parked with radar catching those who dont obey the reduction from 40 to 35 mph. They sometimes park in the Exxon or the Dunkin Donuts parking lot right after the light.
