Everyone speeds up here and East Brunswick loves to park to their undercover blue car behind bushes in the empty parking lot…approximately across from Colonial Diner. Apparently they lowered the speed for all of 18 in the town to 45 because 55 just didn’t slow the traffic down enough. This guy is here almost everyday. Watch out.

EBPD will sit in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, usually with radar on the Rt 18 South direction, but they do catch people on the northbound lanes too.

They also watch for people making the illegal left turn from Tices onto Rt 18.

They patrol this area especially heavily on the weekend nights

This brand new and absolutely outrageous trap from the East Brunswick police department purports that the speed limit when approaching the overpass just south of Sunny Palace and north of the 516/527 interchange is 45 when it clearly does not change until crossing into Old Bridge. There is no signage at all and to go 45 is absolute suicide when everyone is going 75. The car is undercover, light blue/periwinkle, and has stickers on the back (of the likes of Z100) to make you think it’s not a cop. Please, be on to them because it’s likely you’ll be going way over 45. I’m sure this speedtrap will be out or the signage will change after the court dates because this is absolutely the greatest outrage in speed traps I have experienced- and I drive in New Jersey!

Intersection o Rt 1 and Rt 130

The area has been a construction zone for a few years with no sign of it being done any time soon, as soon as the construction zone starts the speed limit drops from 55 to 40 MPH, average traffic speed is between 60 and 75, occasionally a cop will be waiting right as the spped limit drops so then he can bust you for an even larger fine of speeding in a 40 MPH zone instead of 55 AND the fee doubled for construction zone. My friend got busted on this and he wasn’t even the fastest car on the road, people were passing him but he got a $490 ticket and 2 points on his liscence, it wouldve been 6 points but he got a pretty good lawyer.
