Somerville, New Jersey Speed Traps
Rt 202 north over the Somerville circle.
The border doesn’t start Somerville until u pass the Bwt Dinner. The speed limit over the bridge is 45; but cars exceed 70 plus. A good ticket is 80 or better.don’t sweat the small stuff.
Mountain Ave. All of it.
From Immaculata High School all the way to West End Ave. Police will park between cars on the side of the road, they will sit in side streets and will also park in the laundromat and High School parking lot. Speed limit is 25 MPH and I would recommend never exceeding it.
Davenport Street and Ivanhoe Street by Route 22 East
If you come off of Route 22 and make a right onto Davenport (Lukoil gas on the corner/right before Dunkin Donuts). Cops will hide in the way back of the driveway of a residential house and get anyone coming fast down Ivanhoe or coming off of 22. I’ve seen them hide many nights in that house.
(They also hide in the parking lot of Somerville High School which is also on Davenport.)
Green st.-between North Bridge and Davenport roads
Fri. 12th March 2010 somerville had a Dodge Charger LX police vehicle doing a speed strap and traffic enforcement detail on the north bound side of Green st. between North Bridge rd.. and Davenport st. The marked car was semi camoflaged by a short white picket fence and a tree in a small lot just after you pass a large park with a playground on your left hand side (assuming your going south bound towards U.S. 206.) NJ HWY 28 becomes Williams st., Williams st. becomes Green st. and limits drop at least 10 mph-when I drove past it was raining making it even more hard to spot-it can be a nasty trap if you’re caught in it …
North Gaston Avenue near North Gaston Avenue off Highway 22
North Gaston is 25 MPH with many school crossings. Local Cops will hide behind other cars parked on the side of the street. People come off Highway 22 going 65 and then fly down North Gaston which is a residential area.
