US Highway 22 near Entire length of route through town

Springfield, New JerseyJun 30, 20060 Comments

The speed limit of 45 is not unrealistic due to heavy traffic and bad road geometry, but there are no traffic lights and it’s very easy to overlook your speed. The police sit in business parking lots and cherry-pick.

Stretch of 295 by Springfield

Springfield, New JerseyDec 19, 20020 Comments

For 90% of 295 you can go pretty much about 10-15 miles over the limit. But I swear, the second you see the sign for Springfield, watch out. I have yet to drive through this area w/o seeing at least one cop hiding in median/woodland area between the highway. I got a ticket going through once before, at the time I didn’t know to watch out. Well, the day I went to court I figured it out for sure. This town is maybe a halfmile long, about 99% farmland, and the courthouse is the size of a dentist office. With a town this small, how many people do you think would show up for traffic court? Tons, and I noticed alot of the plates in parking "lot" were Pennsylvania plates, probably meaning that driving through 295 to 95, they got caught as well. I’m sure this little piece of trash town generates most of it’s revenue from their little stretch of highway.

I295 north of Rt 541 Interchange

Springfield, New JerseyMay 24, 20020 Comments

Targets both N & Sbound. Northbound, I detected radar at 541 interchange( it was found to be North, 1/2 -1 mile away)and lifted throttle at 72MPH (traffic flows at 70). Officer was next seen (beyond overpass)in S.bound lane and then turned across divider to pursue N. He explained that I was picked because I was "in the lead". Later, I realized that remark was because he could not see me when the reading was made (overpass and uphill-downhill obscures his view). The ticket was for 83MPH, which was bogus. Also, at that distance the radar beam is far wider than all lanes.
