West Long Branch, New Jersey Speed Traps

When you turn onto Rte. 71 off of Rte 36, you come to a stop sign. There is often times a cop in the parking lot because people use it as a yield because of the way the road winds. If you do not come to a full stop, there is often times a cop sitting there to get you. Beware!

Speed limit drops from 35 mph to 25 mph when you leave Eatontown in to West Long Branch. Wide open road that is well-travelled but quiet. The town has five new cops that patrol the road daily at all hours. The majority of drivers at weekly municipal court have been ticketed for 15 to 20 mph over the speed limit.

This stupid thing is set up to catch students on their way to school.

Traveling east bound on Rt 36 in between Monmouth Rd. and Rt 537/Browdway Ave. there is a shopping market named ALDI. I was driving at 10:00 pm west bound and saw a Ford Explorer and a police interceptor"cruiser". They were basically haveing a "cop convention" in the parking lot with K and X bands on. Going Eastbound they could have easily caught anyone going too fast(10-15mph over). As well the Explorer has offroad advantages and is able to cross the median in a breeze catching west bound speeders. They were sitting there for approx. half an hour when I saw them last…..just be careful.
