Tucumcari, New Mexico Speed Traps

Giving out tickets for any out-of-state plates for any amount over the limit.

State Police lives in Tucumcari not on 1-40 will pull you over for a $80.00 ticket just for not wearing your seatbelt.

Watch for posted speed to drop from 40 MPH to 25 MPH within part of one block. Also note that City Ordinance requires all vehicles to remain three seconds apart At All Times – including stop lights, left-turn arrows, etc. Avoid the "Tucumcari Twofer" – two moving violations in town within 24 hours requires a $500 "deposit" for reserving courtroom time – and which is only redeemable by a Guilty plea In Person. If you don’t show up, kiss the $500 bye-bye!

A couple of miles before you reach Tucumcari, travelling east-bound, there is a long downhill slope. At the bottom of the hill the road rises slightly over a small crest before dipping to a bridge. State trooper parks in the median by the bridge, hidden behind the crest. Detector will often pick up a signal at the top of the hill but it will disappear as you get down into the radar "shadow" of the little crest. Don’t be tempted to think the threat has gone!

first exit eastbound as you approach the city. they have a great hiding spot..K-band instant on…zero tolerance..posted is 75..next exit has huge billboard…"stop speeding or we will stop you." All K-band hits are REAL. All thru town both directions are under constant radar enforcement.
