Oneonta, New York Speed Traps
On main street 1/4 mile from Rt. 28 towards downtown.
Local police hide in the parking lot of First Choice Cleaners across the street from an Ice Cream shop. Difficult to see them as the some signs obscure your vision. Mainly the one that says "Oneonta City of the Hills" Speed limit is 30. 34-36 will get you a fat ticket.
Interstate 88 near Exit Number between 12 and 13
Troopers sit on the curve under an overpass between exit 12 and 13. They also patrol this stretch of road heavily at peak traffic times.
Interstate 88 near Exit Number 16
It is not all that uncommon to see two Troopers on this exit – one pointing EB/WB and the other to chase. They’ll sit on the exit (which is an overpass to I-88) waiting for motorists. Also, and this mainly applies to EB drivers, there will be a trooper on the back side of the overpass (on-ramp to I-88) who will shoot your car and relay the information to chase cars up ahead about 3/4 mile.
Interstate 88 near Exit Number 13
Between the Oneonta and Otego exits under the bridge they’ll hide on the right side of the road. You have no time to slow down because it’s on a curve.
I-88 East and West Bound Exit 16
NYSP sit no both entrance ramps which are hidden from view until it is too late. They will usually allow 5 to 8 mph over the posted limit, above that watch out.
