Plainview, New York Speed Traps

This is a really bad one, so watch it. They love to ticket anywhere from 10A-3P (Mon-Fri) and also Sat/Sun mornings, 8A-11A. The location of this trap is located on South Service Road and is about 3/4 mile EAST of the intersection of Sunnside Blvd and the South Service Road. (You are parallel to the LIE here at this point, LIE on your LEFT). At least 1 (at most 4) police will sit in their cars and/or bikes, each guy taking a turn with the gun. The sit right outside 45 South Service road (bottom of the big hill you’ll go over) and aim up the hill. As you come over the crest (still a good 1000 yards away) they’ll get you. If you’re going fast (posted is 40mph, easily can do 50mph, 60+ if you just got off the LIE and are in the "highway mentality".) If you can, get over in the right lane and hug the shoulder — line of sight is slightly obstructed there, so if you realize it too late, that might be your best shot. If each ticket is $100, I would say on a given weekday, they would collect close to $10,000 here. It goes on ALL day, and IMHO, could cause an accident.
