This is a school zone, speed limit is 30, fine is 50, it is now 24 HOURS school zone, there is no sign of a school zone anywhere, the only school I could find is from 253 to Marathon parkway.

Claiming it’s a School Zone and 30 mph Speed Limit.

NB Francis Lewis Blvd and 17th Rd

I just got a photo ticket from mail.
I was north bound on Francis Lewis Blvd on December 28th, 2022 at 7:15PM.
Wife and I are from Westchester NY, so we assumed the speed limit is 35MPH. I was doing 35, but got clocked at 38MPH.

Going on google maps, I see NO speed limit sign “posted” near the camera. There IS a speed limit sign 731ft (according to google maps) PAST the camera (after 16th Rd and before 16th Ave). Google search also says that at night, average visibility of drivers is 250ft, and even with use of high beams that gets doubled to 500ft. So they POSTED the sign BEYOND the visual range of the driver.

I went BACKWARDS in google maps along Francis Lewis Blvd to see where the sign BEFORE the camera was located. The nearest sign BEFORE the camera is 963ft BEFORE the camera (@ Willets Point Blvd).

Unfortunately, I turned onto F. Lewis Blvd SOUTHBOUND at 17th rd, and then made a U-turn at 16th street. I was wondering why I saw no signs and if you do this maneuver, you will end up turning in on F Lewis between signs, and then when you do get tagged by the camera, the “visible speed sign” is 730ft away, OUTSIDE the average viewing range of drivers at night.

I know that photo tickets have no moving violation points on the license, but I want to know if this will get posted on my wife’s insurance and raise her premium. If so, I think we would like to hire a lawyer.
