Troy, New York Speed Traps
rt 378 bridge coming into South Troy
TPD sits on little side road approx. 100 ft from end of bridge into Troy. Speed drops from 55 to 30 as you cross bridge. Seem to mostly target HVCC students on their way to school.
Hoosick St. Headed downhill. Route 7
Cops lurk in driveways and pick out of state license plates to ticket from the flow of traffic. Be careful if you have a non NYS plate in front of you they , they jump out into the traffic to print out their tickets.
Northern Dr.
From OakWood Ave. left on Northern Dr. strip mall on the right ,early in the morning (Troy police). And if you think taking a left on Gurley Ave. will avoid this. Not so, Troy Police sit about 500 yards on the right.
Rt.142 and Plank Rd. Just before Rt. 40
Rt. 142 Runs from Top of Hoosick To RT. 40 Speed limit starts at 40 then picks up to 45. As you enter Troy it drops to 30. Troy Police love to sit in the pull off in front of Plank RD. Sat. and Sunday is a big day
Gurley Avenue, north Troy (entering from Northern Drive)
You go from 55mph and suddenly it is 30 mph, the city speed limit. The problem is it still looks like country and there are no clear visible speed limit signs. It is an abrupt speed change and definitely speed trap.
