Durham, North Carolina Speed Traps
147 Expressway near Exit Number Duke St.
Police are giving out tickets at the intersection of the 147 Durham Freeway northbound off-ramp. They are claiming that people are running the red light by saying that they are entering the intersection too early when the light turns green.
I kid you not. We’ll see how this holds up in court.
Interstate 85 near State Highway 147 Durham Freeway
It’s awful here, in every direction. Mostly the mornings, but also in the evening rush hour. The speed limit changes from 65 to 55, which in my opinion is too slow, and they will bust you for 65+.
Going north on I-85, getting off on NC 147 south: Cops will wait in the median behind a barrier of small trees. A tall brick noise barrier wall is on the right, across from where the cop sits. This one is fightable, because there is no way the cop can see you and clock you cleanly in time.
Going north on I-85: Troopers or city cops will wait just past (north of) the exit for NC 147, around a bend, under the bridge, etc.
Going south on I-85: Same as above. Cops will wait under the bridge, a half mile or so past where you would exit for US 15-501 & NC 147. Or, they will wait in the median between the merge of NC 147 north and I-85 south.
Rose of Sharon Road near Valley Springs Road
Cop sometimes hides in woods around the bend across from the valley springs crossroad or closer to the high school. Difficult to spot because of turns in road.
I-40
I-40 east and west is under heavy construction. 55 limit all in Durham County. All of I-40 in Durham is considered a construction zone. Court costs- $100.00 Fine- $250.00.
SLOW DOWN!
i-85 north and south
Appears NCDMV and SHP and been burning up I-85, mainly looks like the Work Zone area. I can’t believe DMV and SHP has the same job.
