Traffic Circle heading towards Carthage..
As you take the Carthage exit becareful of cops hiding along the grass. They are hard to spot. Usually, they are waiting for you right after the change over from 45 to 55.
Lake Hills Rd
Cops like to hide on one of the side streets off Lake Hills Rd, as you are coming from the small circle off Diamondhead going towards Hwy 5 (Buela Hills) or on to Monticello. (the speed limit was recently changed to 25mph, everything else in the area is 35mph) Be very careful on that road.
Entirety of the historic district
Pinehurst policemen lurk throughout. And another thing: if you plan on having more than one drink with dinner in Pinehurst and getting behind the wheel afterward, you might want to practice getting into the back seat of a sedan with your arms behind your back and your wrists close together.
Olmsted Blvd & Emerald Necklace Ln
At the bottom of the hill below Lowe’s Foods, within Olmsted Village itself, the cops wait, especially in the evenings. The speed limit is 25 mph, difficult to maintain without braking. They park in the median behind the crepe myrtles–hard to see them.
Midland Road near Pinehurst Circle
Coming into the Pinehurst Circle the speed limit is 45, EXCEPT when coming from Midland Road. Coming from or exiting onto Midland Road towards Southern Pines the speed limit is 35 for about 1/2 mile. The Pinehurst Police constantly patrol and ticket in that 1/2 mile nabbing locals and tourists.
