Millbrook Road between Six Forks Road and the Falls of Neuse Road

Raleigh, North CarolinaJun 01, 20030 Comments

Millbrook Road is 45 on both sides of the speed trap which has a speed limit of 35. The speed trap is on Millbrook Road between Six Forks Road and Falls of Neuse Road. Usually a pack of motorcycle cops patrols this speed trap during morning and evening rush hours along with the lunch hour. Great generator of revenue for the Raleigh Police Department.

Neighborhood do gooders got the speed limit lowered from 35 to 25. Now RPD in cars and on motorcycles patrol this street constantly. They write an average of a ticket an hour on this street.

i540 and Six Forks interchange

There are typically 2 speed traps on i540. One at the 70 interchange (already here), and at the Six Forks Exit off 540. This is a sneaky one. The six forks road which crosses over 540 is extra wide. They propped it up with 4-6 large concrete pillars. A SHP trooper will position his car out of view behind the pillars on the opposite side of the road from oncoming travlers. By the time you see him, it is too late. This normally happens for people traveling towards Capital.

Capital Blvd, Northbound side, btwn Wade/Atlantic exits

Motorcycle + Radar. Often during lunch hours M-F, frequently during morning rush hour M-F (at least 5-7x/month). A motorcycle cop will sit in the median cutthrough across cross Budweiser distributor plant. Road is totally straight. Though in plain site, he is obscured by the backgrough of oncoming southbound traffic. Speedlimit is 45 though Capital Blvd is a 6 lane divided hwy in good condition that can take 55 easily. Trick is to look for burning headlamp. STAY BELOW *50* if at all possible. They will pursue and pull you over past the overpass. Very productive site for revenue generation. Once I passed and watched him pull over the car behind me. When he turned on his rollers three cars crashed into each other (rear-ending and chain reaction) because everyone was looking in their rear-view (does anything good happen with blue lights in yours?). The cop went about writing a ticket rather than do the accident report and investigation.

You’re not out of the woods. Capital Blvd, Northbound. Past the Atlantic Ave. Exit (about 1/4 mile north of Budweiser plant), motorcycle cops are known to take pictures here too, particularly on bright sunny days because they sit in the shadow of the overpass–it is hard to see because of the slight bend in the road and the glare. I was busted on a seatbelt violation here. I had seen one lurking around earlier so kept my speed down … but still got pulled over.

US 401 South/Louisburg Rd. in betw Perry creek/spring forest.

Raleigh, North CarolinaMar 28, 20030 Comments

Nearly twice a week I have seen a motorcycle cop hiding in the entrance of the subdivision accross the street from the horse farm (if you come south on 401 it’s right before Spring forest/Fiddlestix). It’s always around noontime.

I’ve seen him target minivans, cars, trucks, everything.

They’ve just changed the speed limits on this road from 45 to 50 – but there are still areas that are in the "work zone" of the future 540 ramp to 401 (which won’t be done for another 2 years).
