Troutman, North Carolina Speed Traps
I-77 South, few miles south of Troutman
Once you get a few miles south of Troutman, going south bound, there is a bend to the right (shortly after Flower House Loop) and there is an empty plot of land that you cannot see until you are passing it, where troopers will occasionally sit in. Sometimes easily visible as your passing and some sit in the very back so that you won’t see them unless you turn your head 90 degrees to look.

Between US 21 and Amity Hill Rd
"Have you gotten your ticket in Troutman yet?" My barber asked me that question last year and I responded no. On Murdock Rd close to US 21 the man sits in a car tucked behind trees or in the EMS driveway watching cars come out of a 45 mph zone into a 35 mph zone. Using instant-on radar, he will pick you out easily. While paying the $223.00 ticket I asked the clerk how much the town gets from each ticket and was told $5.00. I was amazed; they obviously do it for sport, not for the money. There is no safety issue in that spot.
Troutman City Limits entrance points (ALL)
Many NEW posted speed limits (45 to 25 changes in a mile) At any point going into the Troutman NC city limits, the police cars will sit in the trees, in High School Parking lots, in between parked cars in any parking lot, closed gas stations after dark, medians. Troutman is a sleepy, two-stop light town with too many patrolmen – so speeders beware…
I-77 North between Exit 45 & 42.
Along Interstate 77 northbound going from Mooresville to Statesville. Between the HWY 21 exit (exit # 42) and the Old Mountain Rd exit (exit # 45). State troopers love to sit in the median watching traffic. Speed limit is 65 but everyone easily does 80.
