The Speed limit goes from 60 to 55 abruptly. It is a busy "Wal-Mart" exit and the cops love to catch people right at the speed change line. Many tickets are written there!

US Highway 276 near US Highway 23/74

When exiting Hiway US 23-74 onto hiway US 276 north, the speed limit drops from 60mph to 35mph for only a few hundred yards. The speed limit on US 276 is 50 mph after the short section of 35mph. Waynesville police like to sit in this short section and issue tickets, especially to tourists who are unaware of the abrupt speed limit change.
