Wilkesboro, North Carolina Speed Traps
Few miles north of Wilkesboro on Rt. 421, to Parkway
State Highway Patrol operates speed traps on both sides of the road, beginning at the climb on Rt. 421 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s easy to exceed the speed limit going down the mountain on 421. They often work in pairs and on weekends there are nearly always a pair of them working 421.
Hwy 421 (north & south)…Right at the old Speedway
State Troopers will sit on 421… right at the Speedway, either backed in the low median, or the wide turn-in to the field on the southbound side. I know they sit there a lot, and it’s still hard for me to see them, especially after the sun goes down. There’s a cut through there, so they can get you going either way.
