Hwy 421 (north & south)…Right at the old Speedway
State Troopers will sit on 421… right at the Speedway, either backed in the low median, or the wide turn-in to the field on the southbound side. I know they sit there a lot, and it’s still hard for me to see them, especially after the sun goes down. There’s a cut through there, so they can get you going either way.

I find it interesting that there are numerous votes showing these Wilkesboro/Hwy 421 spots NOT being speed traps. The entire 421 stretch from I-77 north to Boone is one of the biggest speed traps I've encountered outside Hwy 301 in north Florida. It is rare to go this stretch and not see State Troopers with cars pulled over or have your radar detector singing much of the way. The votes suggesting otherwise are obviously Troopers or their family weighing in.
