Gahanna, Ohio Speed Traps
U.S. Hwy. 62 Inbetween Cherry Bottom Rd. and Hamilton Rd.
If you are traveling north on U.S. Hwy. 62 shortly before you come to the intersection with Hamilton Rd, this is a speed trap. There is an unused driveway off the side of the road where the cops sit and wait to clock people who don’t see them because they are hidden by a bend and a lot of trees. Be careful here! In fact, stay away from here and Olde Gahanna as much as possible. It’s where they like to hang out.
Taylor Station Road near Taylor Road
Beginning here and heading south through the industrial district towards Broad St., cops hide out in parking lots to try to catch people doing above 35 mph (the area around the Donato’s lot is a favorite). The amount of enforcement, especially at night when there’s little traffic is not reasonable, given the lack of unsafe speeding on the road and the number of traffic lights.
Granville Street near Hamilton Road
The most blatant speed trap in central Ohio (since the demise of New Rome) deserves its own entry.
Posting a limit of 25 mph for a wide, four-lane highway (between Hamilton and Mill St.) that goes through a business strip area with scant pedestrian traffic is unjustifiable, except as a moneymaker for the city or to benefit the wretched businesses that line the road and justly fear being ignored by cars going through on their way to I-270 (the city actually has tried to drop speed limits beyond town from 45 to 35 mph, again to make money on unjustified speed enforcement).
Interstate 270 near THE Entire Loop
I believe Columbus has new towers all over the outerbelt. About two weeks ago all these solar powered towers are on the outerbelt with what look like radar Guns on the end.
